Chairman of The Big Sunday organiser Newham Civic Partnership and Mayor of Newham Sir Robin Wales said: “The Big Sunday was a huge success and one that was achieved by everyone who contributed to the historic event, including the Ascension Eagles.“

“Not only was their show fun to watch, but its originality really added something special to the day. I was proud to see such home-grown talent that can only have been achieved by hard work and dedication.”

Ascension Eagles took part in Newham's Big Sunday on Sunday, 5th February at ExCel Exhibition Centre. Over 32,000 people attended, along with sporting stars and celebrities. Ascension Eagles performed on ExCel's MAIN Stage, after Chico (X Factor) and just before Strictly Come Dancing's world record attempt.

Ascension Eagles are proud to be part of London's successful 2012 Olympic bid, and have enjoyed their role working with the IOC.

They are excited to do their part to help their borough prepare to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Newham residents were invited to Big Sunday to enjoy huge interactive exhibitions including cookery demonstrations, health MOT's, lives performances, sports displays, quizzes, games, DJs, careers advice and competitions.
