History
Ascension Eagles Cheerleaders (AEC) began in November 1996 as an outreach of the Ascension Church Centre in the East London borough of Newham. Shara Brice MBE, AEC’s Patron and founder, initially started the programme as a way to keep young people off the streets and engaged in an activity that promotes fitness and social interaction.
Over the past two decades, AEC has been recognised as one of the UK’s most successful youth initiatives, as well as one of Britain’s best all-round cheer programmes. AEC aims to transform and inspire young people to reach their full potential, while providing the highest level of training, coaching and community development work. AEC makes a difference in the lives of young people so they can make a difference to the lives of others in their community.
To date, AEC has won over 400 trophies, and is the current British champions for the twentieth consecutive year.
