Team England Tryouts 2018

Over the last 5 years, cheerleading has become one of Britain’s fastest growing sports. With a combination of gymnastics, stunts, dance and jumps this unique sport has inspired thousand’s to take it up- and there’s not a pom-pom in sight!

The surge in British cheerleading talent peaked this Easter at the International Cheerleading Union’s (ICU) World Championships where the Team England All-Girl Elite and Co-Ed Elite teams both earned the right to stand on the winner’s podium: the All-Girl team claiming Gold and Co-Ed, Silver- that's right, England are currently World Champions!

Motivated by these huge successes came hundreds of video applications for next year’s international teams. One hundred were chosen for the skills day to be held at Newham’s own Talent Central, based at Gallions Reach Retail Park. Of that one hundred, three of the Ascension Eagles athletes were invited to attend: Zach Adesida, Scarlett Folan, and Lillie Fox. All three did themselves and the Ascension Eagles incredibly proud, showcasing their skills and what they have to offer as athletes.

We are immensley proud to announce that both Scarlett and Zach were picked to represent their club, borough, and country at the World Championships in 2018. We wish them the best of luck as they continue to chase their World’s dream.
