AEC founder receives 'Distinguished Alumni Award'
We are super pleased to announce that AEC founder, Shara Brice, is to be recognised by the Raymore-Peculiar Public School Foundation by receiving the Distinguished Alumni award for services to the community.
Shara set up the Ascension Eagles Cheerleaders in 1996 as a way of getting young people off the streets and into something that promoted positive health and social interaction. Over the course of the 15 years that followed, before she returned to America, AEC became a charity as well as establishing itself as one of the top cheerleading programmes across the United Kingdom. She was awarded an MBE for her services to young people in 2005, and then ‘Citizen of the Year’ in 2009, only to be followed with ‘Women of the Year’ in 2010.
For so many of the young people that she worked with at AEC she was, and still is, an inspiring role model, and someone that we continue to look up to.
Congratulations Shara!
