Play Ball! Ascension Eagles perform at Yankees vs the Red Sox.

On Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June, the Ascension Eagles performed in the opening ceremonies of the first encounters between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees outside of the United States, working with Tom Walker and Craig David respectively.

It was an exciting experience for our athletes, a first for many, to work such a high profile event. AEC director Angela Green said: ‘It was a pleasure to spend time with the athletes. I absolutely loved getting to be with them all; they represented AEC with excellence both on and off the pitch.’ Sheralyn, an AEC parent, said: ‘I love how they are not only making memories with friends, but they are able to say they were a part of something so important in the sporting world!’

Starting early on both days, and following late nights in the weeks prior for practice, AEC athletes went through event rehearsals and the whole 'crew experience' before performing in front of 60,000 people. Although they were nervous, and slightly apprehensive, they put together two routines to be really proud of, earning high praise from the event directors at Event 360.

Needless to say it was an experience these young ladies will remember for a long time, made more special by the impromptu photoshoot they had with Craig David. AEC athlete Harmony said: Thank you for the opportunity. It was amazing and fun spending time with everyone.’

Thank you to Event 360 for choosing us to take part in this huge event!
