She Leads
Our newest project, She Leads, is ALL about showcasing female talents and successes to our athletes. We want to inspire them with people they can relate to and aspire to be like.
We are so passionate about this project that we are committed to delivering it for the next three years. The programme is broken down into four main strands:
Woman of the month- each month is dedicated to celebrating the successes of women from a variety of different fields and backgrounds. So far we have showcased the successes of: Simone Biles, Greta Thunberg, JK Rowling and December will be devoted to Michelle Obama.
Delivering team talks/ seminars to each team in the programme concerning current and relevant issues, particularly those affecting younger females: Social media, body confidence, health and fitness, celebrating our talents, mental health and bullying. To date we have discussed bullying in accordance with anti-bullying week in November, and we will be looking at ‘fulfilling our potential’ in December.
We have planned seminars for athletes to attend regarding women in the workplace. Part of our programme is to create opportunities for our young people to meet, talk to, and work with successful women from a variety of different career paths and disciplines. Other trips and visits include: arranging events that allow our athletes to learn about, and celebrate, the work of successful women through history.
We are also delivering a Junior Leadership Programme, where we train a number of our more experienced athletes to coach both cheerleading and gymnastics. Our junior coaches are devoted to the programme and we want to ensure they get something back in the form of leader specific workshops, relevant coaching qualifications, and DBS certifications.
Our project is only in its infancy, but the response from athletes has been excellent- they’re fully engaged, willing to ask questions and take part where required. You can view the pictures in the gallery to see some of the work we have done so far!
