Eagles Stand Tall at Spotlight Showdown

The Ascension Eagles Cheerleaders put together some fantastic performances at Future Cheer’s Spotlight Showdown this past weekend. With many of the divisions containing routine quality reflective of a Nationals event, rather than the Regionals that it was, we are so proud of how our athletes performed and achieved.

AEC coaches worked incredibly hard with their teams in the three week gap between competitions, guiding them to improved scores, more zero deduction runs, and creating a greater intensity in their performances. AEC teams achieved: 3 first places, 2 second places, a third and a fifth.

Here are the teams’ placings:

  • Prodigy- 1st place Mini Prep 1

  • Symphony- 2nd place Youth prep 1

  • Destiny- 5th place Junior Prep 1

  • Royalty- 3rd place Senior 1

  • Prophecy- 1st place Junior 2

  • Majesty- 2nd place Senior 2

  • Trinity – 1st place Senior 3 co-ed.

Coach Mel Brown, who coaches Youth Prep 1 team Symphony, had this to say about the weekend: ‘I treasure every time I see these wonderful girls - full of talent, hard work and compassion. I am so grateful to have had the pleasure to work with them this season and I really hope we get to continue and see the rest of the season out together. It was an amazing weekend at competition where these girls had to battle, making two big changes to the routine in the two weeks leading up to it. I couldn’t be more proud of ANOTHER zero run!’

Prodigy parent Craig said: ‘I am So Proud of Maisie and her Cheerleading Team; second competition of the season and second time as the first place Winners!

It’s hard to say what’s next for the Ascension Eagles this season with the ongoing concerns surrounding Covid-19. However, we are so proud of what our athletes continue to achieve and fingers crossed it’s not the last time they get take to the floor in 2020!
