Eagles ride the storm at Legacy's Just Believe
This past weekend, 19-20th February, the Ascension Eagles Cheerleaders returned to the Copperbox Arena for the first time since 2020 to compete at Legacy Cheer and Dance’s Super Regional competition- Just Believe!
It was a fantastic way to kick off our 2021-2022 season.
The build up to competition was not without its stumbling blocks. Ongoing issues surrounding Covid meant that many of our teams went weeks without having full team practices, impacting opportunities to add routine upgrades or being able to build continuity for athletes. Hurdles aside, athletes, coaches and family members did everything they could to ensure athletes took to the floor confident and ready to put on a show.
All of our teams put on performances they could be proud of. Mini 1 Prodigy and Youth 1 Symphony, secured regional championship titles with assured performances, showing great maturity in the process; Prophecy and Royalty came third and fourth respectively in really difficult divisions; Majesty, our senior level 2 team, had a fantastic weekend not only taking a first place regional title, but also receiving a judges award for technical excellence; Trinity, our senior level 3 team, put on an incredible performance, coming second in a division ripe with talent. A final mention goes to our amazing SEND team, Serenity, who put on the performance of the day, bringing the Copperbox to its feet!
We’re really proud of all that our athletes achieved and can't wait to get them back in the gym to continue their development.

Erika, parent to a Majesty athlete: ‘This was my daughter’s first competition with AEC. You have all been so welcoming and brilliant; she is loving being an Eagle.’
Serenity parent Sam Russell had this today about her son’s involvement in our SEND programme: ‘He is no longer shy. He has made so many friends throughout the programme- with athletes, parents and coaches. He Loves to speak to everyone. Whereas before joining AEC he would rarely engage with anyone new.’
