The Ascension Eagles Cheerleaders are very fortunate to have a number of trustees who understand AEC's mission and fully support its implementation. They bring with them a huge amount of expertise from a variety of backgrounds that help AEC grow in the way that it supports the young people of Newham! You can read their stories and what they bring to AEC in more detail below.

Sue Winston
Chair
Appointed 2016
Sue chairs AEC's Board of Trustees and sits on the fundraising, HR and investment sub-committees. She lives in east London has been a trustee of AEC since May 2016, describing herself as "extremely proud of the work that the AEC team does in helping to make such a tangible difference to the lives of the young people”. Sue is a qualified workplace mediator and a member of the commercial panel for a mediation charity in south west London. She is also a member of the London Recruitment Advisory Committee for London Magistrates.
Susan Spiller
Board Member

Susan works for a UK financial services firm in London where she is responsible for product development and product governance. She joined the firm in 2002. Prior to this she has built up a strong background in wide variety of sales, marketing, product development, and investment management activities for firms in the US. Prior to joining the AEC Board, she worked extensively across the company and with external partners to build the firm’s successful volunteering and community programme.
Hayley Budd

Hayley lives in Hackney, London, working for a large multi-national insurance company. She is responsible for product development, strategy, innovation and external partnerships. Prior to her current role, she has a strong background in change management. Hayley sits on the Impact Analysis, Fundraising and Business Planning sub-committees, having joined AEC as a trustee in early 2020. She’s extremely honoured and proud to sit on the Board of Trustees, where she can finally put some of her corporate skills to good use!
Peter Sharp

Peter was born and grew up in Newham and works as an IT Director based in Canary Wharf. He has held a number of senior management positions across similar sized companies and he is passionate about driving positive change. He focuses on providing innovative solutions to meet the needs of the business and driving a culture of continuous improvement. Peter is excited to be part of AEC and is the Safeguarding Lead Trustee and also sits on the IT Strategy Committee.
Farrah Mughal

Farrah lives in Bow but grew up and went to school in the neighbouring Borough of Redbridge. She has over 20 years experience as a commercial insurance broker for various multinational companies. She also has extensive experience in creating, marketing and selling specialist and bespoke products. In her various client management roles she has developed strong negotiating and inter-personal skills. Throughout her career she has been involved in training and mentoring young professionals.
She has recently retrained and is now a qualified Rapid Transformational Practitioner and Hypnotherapist where she helps people find relief from problems like anxiety, addiction, confidence issues, procrastination, weight issues, as well as fears and phobias.
Farrah sits on the Fundraising, HR and Property sub-committees of AEC's Board. She believes in AEC's core values and is very proud to be involved.
Larsen Mabika

Larsen works for a UK based carbon offset ratings company where he focuses on solving business and market problems via developing and managing products contributing to help the world fight climate change and meet the 2050 Paris Agreement goals. Larsen has a background in product management, strategy and problem solving. Being from an ethnic minority and low socio economic background, Larsen feels honoured to be given the chance to give back as a Trustee, and help AEC continue to make a difference in young people's lives.
Erica De Rosa

Erica works as an Executive Director in financial services. With 10 years of experience in the industry, her key skills include strategic product development and product management. Throughout her career she has worked on various initiatives to give back to the community and to better the lives of young people. Having been a student athlete herself, she is passionate about the programs at AEC and is excited to make a difference in the East London community in which she lives.
Lewis Ridett
Board Member

Lewis is a Senior Business Manager for Platform Technology at an asset management firm, and has recently completed an MBA with Imperial College London.
He lives in Canary Wharf, has volunteered with a range of East London charities, and has experience competing in weightlifting nationally and internationally, and therefore has insight into the impact AEC has on young people’s lives. With his passion for improving inclusion and social mobility, Lewis is committed to helping AEC reach those who need our services the most.
Tara Stimpson
Treasurer
Appointed 2020
Tara, lives in south east London. She is a Finance Director and a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She has over 20 years’ experience leading finance teams in small and medium sized businesses providing strong strategic support to senior management, developing clear and concise business information to support business understanding and growth and devising and implementing creative solutions to improve efficiency and business practices.
